Sumario: | The State of Santa Catarina has the Catarinense Foundation for Special Education (FCEE), which, since May 1968, has been responsible for defining and coordinating Special Education policies in the state. The institution benefits thousands of people throughout the state who, to be included, depend on public policies to have quality of life and to participate in life in society. The institution has 10 Specialized Care Centers, and the Physical Education Center is one of them. Adapted Physical Education (AFE) is an important function both for motor development and for the intellectual, social and affective development of students with disabilities. The objective of this study was to describe the trajectory of AFE care at FCEE, carried out from the time of entry of the professional interviewed at the institution to the present day. This work is characterized by being a qualitative research and was elaborated from a semistructured interview with seven questions with a teacher who works in the institution since 1982. The interview allowed to verify that the trajectory of the AFE in the FCEE is characterized by very different moments, contemplating educational and preparation for work, sports and, finally, focused on health and quality of life. It is concluded that AFE in FCEE has changed over the last 35 years to suit the needs of each era, from the period when people with disabilities were accepted by institutions, until the period of school inclusion, preparation for the labor market and focus on health. |
