description | This study aims to reflect on the teaching practice of Physical Education teachers in High School. It is a descriptive research, with a qualitative approach, based on a field research. The research was developed in the Public Schools of the State Education Network in Sobral - CE. Ten professors of Physical Education were defined as subjects of the research, to whom a semistructured interview was applied. We conclude that a Physical Education is indispensable in all basic education, and we point out the need to value this curricular component in the same way as the others in High School, understanding that discipline as a source of necessary knowledge for the construction of new citizens, more complete, more integrated and conscious of its role in the society to which they belong. |

We conclude that a Physical Education is indispensable in all basic education, and we point out the need to value this curricular component in the same way as the others in High School, understanding that discipline as a source of necessary knowledge for the construction of new citizens, more complete, more integrated and conscious of its role in the society to which they belong. Este estudio tiene como objetivo reflexionar sobre la práctica docente de los profesores de Educación Física en la Enseñanza Secundaria. Se trata de una pesquisa descriptiva, con abordaje cualitativo, a partir de un trabajo de investigación. La pesquisa se desarrolló en las escuelas Públicas de la Red Estadual de Enseñanza en Sobral - CE. Definiendose como sujetos de la pesquisa diez (10) profesores de Educación Física, a los cuales les fue aplicada una entrevista semiestructurada. Como resultado, se constató que: los profesores reconocen la Educación Física como herramienta pedagógica para la formación integral en la educación básica. Sin embargo, destacan que existe todavía una visión debilitada con relación a la existencia de esta práctica en la Enseñanza Média. Concluimos que la Educación Física es indispensable en toda la educación básica, y apuntamos la necesidad de valoración de este componente curricular como una fuente de conocimiento necesaria para la construcción de un nuevo ciudadano, más completo, más integrado y consciente de su papel en la sociedad a la cual pertenece. Este estudo tem como objetivo refletir sobre a prática docente dos professores de Educação Física no Ensino Médio. Trata-se de pesquisa descritiva, com abordagem qualitativa, a partir de uma pesquisa de campo. A pesquisa se desenvolveu nas escolas Públicas da Rede Estadual de Ensino em Sobral – CE. Definindo-se como sujeitos da pesquisa 10 professores de Educação Física, aos quais foi aplicado uma entrevista semiestruturada. Como resultado, constatou-se que: os professores reconhecem a Educação Física como ferramenta pedagógica para formação integral na Educação Básica, entretanto, destacam que existe ainda uma visão fragilizada com relação à existência desta prática no Ensino Médio.
