In this context, came back the discussion about what must be the role of the State in the economic development. In Brazil, industrial policies were returned to the petistas governments, between 2003 and 2014. Although such tendencies have not been reversed, the creation of an institutional and legal apparatus focused on industrial development, with forums for dialogue between public and private sectors have been shown important. Thus, the article discusses such policies with the main purpose of to show their advances and limitations. In addition, it is intended to contribute to the discussion concerning the role of the State in the economic development.State in the economic development. A perda de participação da indústria no Produto Interno Bruto (PIB) do Brasil, bem como a dos bens industrializados na pauta exportadora brasileira tem se apresentado como tendências, pelo menos nas últimas duas décadas. Nesse contexto, ressurge o debate em torno de qual deve ser o papel do Estado no desenvolvimento econômico. No Brasil, políticas industriais foram retomadas pelos governos petistas, entre 2003 e 2014. Ainda que não se tenha conseguido reverter tais tendências, a criação de um aparato institucional e legal voltado para o desenvolvimento industrial, com espaços de diálogo entre os setores público e privado mostrou-se importante. Assim, o artigo discute tais políticas com o objetivo principal de apontar seus avanços e limitações.
