Neste artigo pretendemos dar conta da gênese, evolução, objetivos e potencialidades do FERVE. É analisado o papel que este assume no contexto da luta contra a precariedade, o seu funcionamento e organização do movimento por meio de redes de cyberativismo, a relação que mantém com organizações políticas, e em particular com os sindicatos. Dessa forma observamos o contributivo que pode dar no âmbito da representação dos trabalhadores precários e a possibilidade de transformação do seu caráter organizacional.
