O estudo em tela tem por objetivo apresentar uma breve discussão acerca das interpretações sociológicas de Anthony Giddens e Zygmunt Bauman (1925-2017) no que tange à modernidade. Os autores divergem a respeito das consequências da modernidade nas interações humanas. Para Giddens, a “modernidade avançada” trouxe autonomia para os indivíduos; para Bauman, a “modernidade líquida” trouxe individualismo e esfriamento nas relações interpessoais.
