A Teoria dos Custos de Transação (TCT) figura como uma das relevantes contribuições para a agenda de pesquisa das microinstituições e para os estudos da teoria da firma. Todavia, ela não está isenta de contestações. Este trabalho possui dois objetivos. O primeiro consiste em apresentar as principais contribuições da TCT. O segundo visa realizar uma discussão sobre as limitações desta abordagem sob a perspectiva de autores evolucionistas.
