Sumario:In this article, we present a critical reflection about some aspects of the National Curricular Parameters (NCPs) from 1998 and 2000, which point out questions related to Elementary and High School Education, respectively, concerning the teaching of modern foreign languages. Together, we describe two teaching environments where the compulsory internships 1 and 2 of the Portuguese and English Letras Course (Federal Technological University of Paraná) were performed, in the city of Curitiba. In doing so, we contrast the two realities with the NCPs proposals and present our concluding remarks with some suggestions from the internship experience that can help the modern foreign language teacher to reflect and improve his/her teaching environment.
