Dans le cadre de l’enseignement de la littérature francophone à l’université, nous postulons que faire réfléchir les étudiants sur leur rapport à la langue française à partir de textes littéraires d’auteurs bilingues peut les aider à dépasser leurs conflits d’apprentissage. Or, la meilleure manière de les aider serait de leur faire prendre conscience de leur manière de voir les choses. Nous pensons que les étudiants pourront avoir une prise de conscience de leur démarche d’apprentissage et la changer, si besoin est, par identification avec des situations de bilinguisme vécus par le personnage-narrateur. Les correspondances de Nancy Huston à Leila Sebbar présentent de belles pages à ce sujet. La lecture des textes choisis doit aboutir à la construction d’un fil conducteur à comprendre le bilinguisme littéraire à partir de questions suivantes : comment s’est forgée son identité langagière ?
