Este artigo tem por objetivo verificar a reatualização do mito do andrógino no romance Bel-ami (1885), do escritor francês Guy de Maupassant (1850-1893). O mito pode ser pensado em consonância com a busca pela perfeição, a qual se liga à unidade primordial. No romance, essa unidade afigura-se na busca pelo outro, ser que, embora tenha uma existência autônoma, constitui-se como a metade que falta para completar a existência do amado.
