O poema em prosa com o título nervaliano, “El desdichado” (1867), de Villiers de l’Isle-Adam (1839-1888), representa um esquema da versão defi nitiva de “Souvenirs occultes”, publicado em sua obra Contes Cruels, em1883; de fato, cada uma das três estrofes do poema será retomada e desenvolvida na elaboração do conto poético. Apoiando-se na análise do poema “El desdichado” de Villiers, este trabalho tem a intenção de abordar alguns aspectos gerais da linguagem poética do autor, bem como a intertextualidade que estabelece com o poema de mesmo nome de Gérard de Nerval publicado em Les Chimères em 1854.
