Gathering arguments about the differentiation between politics, religion and morality, about the secular condition of the social world and the modern protagonism of religion in the public space and in politics, it seeks to demonstrate that the religious moralization of politics does not result from processes of desecularization, but from problems of functional performance of democratic politics, associated to the crisis of the parties in offering programs and producing public policies capable of realizing expectations of inclusion of the welfare state. |

Este artículo es de naturaleza teórica y discute la validez del diagnóstico de Niklas Luhmann sobre la moralización de la política. La tesis es que el crecimiento de los fenómenos moralizantes en la competencia por el poder se alimenta de las oportunidades creadas por la crisis programática de los partidos políticos. Combinando argumentos sobre la diferenciación entre política, religión y moral, sobre la condición secular del mundo social y el moderno protagonismo de la religión en el espacio público y en la política, buscamos demostrar que la moralización religiosa de la política no surge de procesos de desecularización, sino de problemas de desempeño funcional de la política democrática, asociados a la crisis de los partidos en la oferta de programas y en la producción de políticas públicas capaces de cumplir con las expectativas de inclusión del estado de bienestar. Este artigo é de natureza teórica e discute a validade do diagnóstico de Niklas Luhmann sobre a moralização da política. A tese é que o crescimento de fenômenos de moralização da concorrência pelo poder se alimenta de oportunidades criadas pela crise programática dos partidos políticos.
