Sumario:The article shows the perception of residents and leaders from Sacopã maroon community (RJ) on the Brazilian Judiciary in the various processes of recognition of their territorial and cultural rights. The objective is to discuss the judicialization of the experience of maroon communities in Rio de Janeiro state, which are involved in several court lawsuits, either for the land rights of their territories, or in relation to neighbors, occupants and even to the government.
