Este artigo desenvolve análises teórico-conceituais acerca do paradigma sociológico do risco, tal qual nos é apresentado pelo eminente sociólogo germânico, contemporâneo e falecido em 2015, Ulrich Beck. Por meio do mesmo buscamos estabelecer algumas distinções conceituais, relacionada à abordagem economicista predominante nas Ciências Sociais, no que tange ao olhar sobre as sociedades; bem como estabelecer um diálogo com teóricos que também convergem sobre este tema.
