Divided into four sections, I begin with a brief introduction on the current situation of comparative research in religious studies. Along the second section, I review a research on opinions and initiatives of religious leaders about multiple sexualities. Along the third section, I discuss the methodology and challenges faced in a research with Pentecostal leaders on social, economic, cultural and political issues. By the last section, I present some considerations on the complexity of researches with wellknown personalities in the subfield of sociology of religion. |

Este artigo analisa o percurso metodológico de duas pesquisas qualitativas que tinham o propósito de conhecer percepções e atitudes de lideranças religiosas sobre uma série de problemáticas contemporâneas. Envolvendo sujeitos sociais de diferentes tradições e grupos no interior de uma mesma religião, essas investigações apresentaram várias dificuldades e exigiram grande criatividade dos pesquisadores para encontrar soluções que não comprometessem a compreensão do fenômeno estudado. Dividido em quatro seções, inicio com uma breve introdução sobre o estágio atual das pesquisas comparativas na área da religião e na segunda seção examino a experiência de uma pesquisa sobre as opiniões e iniciativas de líderes religiosos sobre as múltiplas sexualidades. Na terceira seção, discuto a metodologia e os desafios enfrentados em uma pesquisa com líderes pentecostais sobre questões socioeconômicas, culturais e políticas.
