A violência doméstica, um problema social que afeta milhares de mulheres cotidianamente em todo o mundo, em todas as idades, de variadas classes sociais, etnias, graus de escolaridade, orientação sexual e religiosa, é uma grave manifestação da violência de gênero. Este artigo trata da problemática da violência doméstica contra mulheres, tendo como referência e campo de pesquisa o Centro de Referência da Mulher “Heleieth Saffioti”, situado na cidade de Araraquara, São Paulo.
