Este artigo busca analisar a oferta da educação escolar no sistema prisional de São Paulo com base nas reflexões propostas por Foucault (1988) acerca da prisão, seus objetivos e mecanismos de funcionamento Qual seria o lugar possível da educação em uma prisão? Estas são algumas interrogações que permeiam este debate e traçam os contornos centrais de uma história que pode ser qualificada, no mínimo, como “hesitante”, em torno da educação prisional.
