Esse artigo sobre O Livro de Cesário Verde (1887) está fundamentado numa comparação entre o poeta (1855-1886) e o mais prestigiado romancista de seu período, Eça de Queirós. A partir dessa leitura comparada, pretendemos demonstrar as particularidades da obra poética de Cesário Verde em relação ao seu período, procurando destacar a afinidade do nosso poeta com a prosa oitocentista.
