It is thus appreciated the evolution in the treatment of the Abakuá characters in the different chronological moments, especially in relation to their connection with crime and violence. |

Esta contribución lleva a cabo una revisión de la presencia de la sociedad abakuá en la literatura y el cine cubanos vinculados con la ficción criminal. Este género literario fue adquiriendo consistencia dentro de las letras de la Isla durante el siglo XX hasta convertirse en una de las señas de identidad de la narrativa cubana actual. Así pues, y partiendo de la revisión de los casos de la película La hija del policía o Entre los ñáñigos [1917] y de la novela Fantoches 1926, se presta además atención al libro de relatos ¼ fambá y 19 cuentos más de 1967, del escritor Gerardo del Valle (1898-1973).
