O artigo busca estabelecer uma relação entre a poética do Sobrinho de Rameau e o gênero da Sátira. A hipótese é a de que o texto, ao modificar alguns critérios de representação, rompe com as convenções vigentes do gênero à época. Não se pretende aqui, contudo, tomar como parâmetro a Sátira in abstractu, mas sim partir de alguns dos usos e concepções desse gênero próprios à segunda metade do século XVIII, que não serão descritos de forma será exaustiva.
