O estudo propõe uma leitura do duplo e do imaginário de Um rosto noturno, de 1946, romance de Reynaldo Moura (1900 – 1965), considerado um dos primeiros escritores intimistas do Brasil, já em 1935. Um rosto noturno é a saga psicológica de Ulisses, num diário altamente simbólico e hermético, dotado de sonambulismos e alucinações, em que pela fixação por escrito de fatos extraordinários ele busca manter a sanidade – ameaçada pelo mundo fantástico no qual sua esposa submerge após um terrível acidente que a ela desfigura completamente a face.
