Pretende-se, nesse artigo, analisar elementos da maquinaria gótica dentro da obra de fantasia O Senhor dos Anéis. Será feita uma análise cronológica dos elementos concretos (como monstros e locações) e subjetivos (a atmosfera e sensações vividas pelos personagens) relacionados ao gótico e ao terror, e que função cumprem na referida obra.
