The article broaches the death theme in the book Metal Rosicler by Cecília Meireles (1987, p.675-706). Justfying the importance of studying the last works of the poet, the article analyses the poems 21 and 30 of Metal Rosicler with the objective of demonstrating the poetic desity and richness they present as well as also examining the modulations and values that death acquires in each one of them. Before the analysis of the poems , the article makes general comments about the book Metal Rosicler, trying to establish relations between the theme of death, the work and the essential preoccupations of cecilian lyricism. It suggests that this is the way of investigating the symbolist roots of her poetry. It proposes, to a finalize, a lectrre of Cecília Meireles’ work attuned to some of the fundamental questions of modern occidental poetry. |
