Abordagem da questão da leitura a partir da obra teórico-crítica de Silviano Santiago, com ênfase nos livros Uma Literatura nos Trópicos, Ora (Direis) Puxar Conversa! e As Raízes e o Labirinto da América Latina. Propõe-se uma revisão crítica do modo como vem sido lido o conceito de “América Latina”, que informa as relações de parte do continente americano com a Europa e com os Estados Unidos.
