Sumario: | Brazilian literature, from its very beginning, focused on the indian. In this work, we will analyse the appropriation of the indian by Romantic Brazilia writers, who will generally try to represent him as the legitimate native of our land - that is, as the one who always lived here and fought heroically against the Portuguese. We will take into consideration the works of Ferinand Denis, Gonçalves de Magalhães, José de Alencar, Gonçalves Dias and Bernardo Guimarães. |
