Parte-se da análise da concepção de Lorenzer sobre os procedimentos da psicanálise, o que requer o exame do conceito de símbolo, assim como dos argumentos fornecidos pelo investigador alemão para sustentar a sua crença de que a psicanálise não pode ser entendida como ciência natural.
