Sumario:The globalization process presents important consequences in culture. Cultures and identities before named as national culture and national identity are transformed from this phenomenon. One of the examples of these new identifications can be located in rap music and the hip hop movement. Rap appeared as music of the young blacks of the outlying areas of the United States and soon it was appropriate for young blacks in the whole world peripheries. “Periphery is periphery in any place” is the heading of a music composed by a Brazilian’s rap group Rational MC’s and summarizes the idea that in any periphery, any young excluded black is equal. Rap looks for to make music an instrument of spreading of the violence and discrimination, becoming a communication channel between periphery and the remaining portion of the society.
