O período que se segue ao término da Segunda Guerra Mundial foi marcado, especialmente no Ocidente, por uma política cultural anticomunista encabeçada pelos Estados Unidos da América (EUA). O Brasil, embora não fosse o parceiro preferencial dos EUA, seria ainda foco de preocupação permanente da política externa americana. Programas de rádio, entre outros, proclamavam, sutilmente, as vantagens do liberalismo e do capitalismo sobre o modelo soviético de sociedade.
