Os diários, as cartas, os memoriais acadêmicos, os romances autobiográficos são gêneros que realizam o discurso autobiográfico, cuja marca central é, além da temática da “minha vida” – o “eu” é o centro do discurso –, a produção do efeito de identidade entre o enunciador e o narrador; o narrador e o protagonista; o protagonista e o enunciador. Ao examinar os livros que compõem as Memórias de Pedro Nava, notamos que, a partir da segunda metade de Galo-das-trevas (quinto volume), esse triplo efeito de identidade não se realiza por completo.
