It clarifies meanings given by Brazilian companies from the state of São Paulo to the role of companies and to CSR. Among those meanings, the unpredictable aspect of legality and the appeal to connections under CSR reveal that it, at the same time, stimulates rationality and reinforces other capitalistic values in the country. Lo artículo promueve una reflexión sobre los cambios en el espíritu del capitalismo y el fenómeno de la Responsabilidad Social Empresarial (RSE), bajo la luz de la Sociología Comprensiva y de la Sociología Pragmática Francesa. Señala que la RSE se ha visto impulsada por nuevas creencias capitalistas concurrentes a la racionalidad económica. Se aclaran los sentidos proporcionados por un grupo de empresas paulistas a la función empresarial y a la RSE. Entre ellos, el aspecto imprevisto de legalidad y el llamamiento a las conexiones bajo la égida de la RSE refuerzan que esta, al mismo tiempo, promueve la racionalidad y fortalece otros valores capitalistas en el país. O artigo promove uma reflexão sobre mudanças no espírito do capitalismo e o fenômeno da Responsabilidade Social Empresarial (RSE), à luz das sociologias Compreensiva e Pragmática Francesa. Indica-se que a RSE foi animada por novas crenças capitalistas concorrentes à racionalidade econômica. Elucidam-se sentidos fornecidos por um grupo de empresas paulistas à função empresarial e à RSE.
