El propósito de este artículo es analizar ideas, definiciones y prácticas vinculadas al «surgimiento» de la rehabilitación en la Argentina, a mediados del siglo XX. A partir de fuentes primarias, se analizan las concepciones sobre el problema médico y social de la rehabilitación del «lisiado» y su presencia en la agenda pública entre 1940 y 1960.
