El estudio mide el impacto de la distribución del tiempo del padre, la madre y los hijos sobre el atraso escolar de estos últimos. Se trabaja con la Encuesta de Uso del Tiempo, aplicada en el Perú en 2010, y con modelos econométricos de corte transversal. Se encuentra que el tiempo dedicado por la madre influye significativamente cuando los niños van a la primaria, mientras que en el caso del padre ello ocurre en los hijos que tienen entre doce y diecisiete años. El nivel de educación de los dos padres es importante en todos los casos.
