El artículo presenta la labor que ha venido desempeñando la Organización de las Naciones Unidas, a la luz de lo que señala su Carta en aspectos como la seguridad y la paz internacionales, así como en el campo del desarrollo. En el primero de ellos, se mencionan temas como la seguridad política ayudada por la fuerza militar, la seguridad económica y social, la abolición de las colonias y los derechos humanos.
