El año que concluye recordó -entre otras- dos efemérides: el sesquicentenario del fallecimiento del prócer chileno Bernardo O’Higgins, y el bicentenario del nacimiento de Andrés de Santa Cruz Calahumana. El autor recuerda del primero, su contribución a la causa de la libertad chilena y peruana y los diecinueve últimos años de su vida que pasó exiliado entre nosotros.
