El articulo presenta una discusión de las diferentes variables de análisis de un grupo económico en el Perú: las estrategias de crecimiento (integración, diversificación y vinculación con el sistema financiero) asi como los niveles de relación con el Estado, capital extranjero y otros grupos económicos nacionales. El esquema de análisis propuesto se aplica al estudiar el desarrollo histórico del grupo Romero, desde su formación en Catacaos (Piura) hasta la estructura organizacional adquirida en 1985.
