Este artigo expõe resultados parciais de pesquisas sobre a centralidade do trabalho e suas transformações ocorridas no século em curso. Discute o trabalho como categoria fundante do ser social, gênese do processo de sociabilidade, na medida em que é condição natural e eterna da vida humana. Reafirma que no contexto da precarização do trabalho, este não perde sua centralidade na existência humana em suas relações sociais.
