Its ideologists proposed the construction of a "pátria paulista", the subject of analysis of this article. A partir da década de 1870, começaram a ser discutidos no Brasil diversos projetos alternativos de organizações política nacional. Projetos que enfrentavam o desafio detornar viável uma nação com um povo mestiço e localizada em país de clima maléfico. Em oposição às soluções que pensavam a nação em sua integralidade, surgiu uma proposta que enfrentou o problema “extirpando” os “obstáculos”. Trata-se do ideal separatista paulista de 1887.
