É importante para a museologia, para os museus e principalmente para os visitantes, definir conceitos acerca da função social do museu e do museu enquanto organização.Para os museus é importante do ponto de vista de suas delineações de atuação e modalidades de dialogo. Para a Museologia tem valor, pois lhe atribui à missão de frequentemente propor novas diretrizes e momentos para aperfeiçoar a relação do museu com a sociedade. E por fim, para o visitante, pois é o motivo pelo qual a natureza do museu se torna concreta.Um simples passeio na guideline na história do advento museu, e é possível notar as dissonâncias entre Teoria, do grego θεωρία, é o conhecimento descritivo puramente racional.
