Based on the process of the coast space occupation and the configuration of fishing setting in Brazil, the research sought to analyze socio-economical and space changes occurred in the islands mentioned, in the last two decades. It was identified the new problems presented for the islanders and their strategies of economic and social reproduction, regarding the occupation process of paulista north coast, which is characterized by increased urbanization, expansion of coastal and marine tourism, expansion of energetic setting in the region, among other spatial dynamics. |

O artigo revela a preocupação em estabelecer as conexões entre a atividade pesqueira, encarada como uma modalidade laboral, as discussões que permeiam as dinâmicas do mundo do trabalho na contemporaneidade e as transformações no espaço geográfico, tendo como foco de estudo os espaços insulares habitados por ilhéus no litoral norte paulista, em especial as ilhas Vitória e Monte de Trigo. Com base nos processos de ocupação do espaço litorâneo e na configuração do setor pesqueiro do Brasil, a pesquisa buscou analisar as mudanças socioeconômicas e espaciais ocorridas nas ilhas em questão, nas últimas duas décadas.
