At last, it's done a brief valuation of politic/economic condition that leaded to the reflections present in this text O objetivo deste artigo é apresentar uma proposta metodológica de pesquisa regional, a partir do uso misto de técnicas qualitativas e quantitativas. Discute-se, para tanto, a necessidade de avaliar as condições objetivas de reprodução das ciencias, ou seja, condições financeiras, materiais, infra-estruturais, além de desenvolver uma avaliação histórica das áreas do saber geográfico e dos métodos subjacentes a estas áreas. São discutidos também a parte operacional da pesquisa, seu caráter de trabalho coletivo, dando ênfase na qualidade das relações estabelecidas entre os participantes da equipe com os eventuais entrevistados, e na importância da consistencia de um projeto político mais ampio que envolva o grupo de trabalho.
