Na história humana ocidental, existem saberes comuns às religiões abraâmicas e ao interesse da ciência. Alguns desses saberes continuam sendo fontes de inspiração para pesquisa científica. Foram difundidos antes do nascimento da ciência moderna, e estiveram no centro da revolução científica do século XVII, prevalecendo atuais em ciência e em religião, não obstante o distanciamento doutrinário entre ambas. Finalmente, algumas palavras sobre interesse atual em ciência e religião. PALAVRAS-CHAVE: Ciência. Religião. Saberes. Humanos. BRIEF THOUGHTS CONVERGING SCIENCE AND RELIGION Eliane S. Azevêdo Discussions on science and religion may be approached by various routes. We shall try one of them. Science and religion are both secular institutions, sharing histories and wisdom created by the same human kind. In the western human history there are knowledge common to Abrahamic religions as well as to science. Some of these knowledge remain as inspirations for scientific investigations; were of concern before the rise of modern science; were in the core of the XVII century scientific revolution, and remain up to date in science and in religion, in spite of their doctrinarian diversity. Finally, we shall say a few words on present interest in science and religion studies. KEY-WORDS: Science, religion, wisdom, human. Nous commençons par un retour vers le passé, en reconnaissant l’existence de connaissances communes aux religions abrahamiques et les intérêts de la science. Connaissances qui sont encore les fondations d’inspiration pour la recherche scientifique et la religion. Sagesses étaient généralisés avant la naissance de la science moderne, ont été au centre de la révolution scientifique du XVIIe siècle et prévaut aujourd’hui dans la science et la religion en dépit de la distance doctrinal entre eux.
