description Senator Kátia Regina de Abreu is today one of the main spokesmen for Brazilian agribusiness and ruralism. Its trajectory is marked by the introduction in the livestock activity, which unfolded in the insertion in the union and political career. Born in Goiânia - GO (1962), she graduated in Psychology from the Catholic University of Goiás, and enters livestock after the death of her husband, Irajá Silvestre, in 1987. Given the above, this study aims to understand the social meaning, political and historical spokesperson for rural patronage and agribusiness in Brazil in our time, assuming that Katia Abreu is a representative of the first strain of social classes and groups identified with backwardness and conservative thinking, but fascinated with new technological and globalization control standards.
