Esse artigo tem como objetivo analisar o processo pelo qual os agricultores familiares da região Nordeste se apropriam do microcrédito rural (Pronaf B). Para tal, busca-se compreender os distintos cálculos presentes, respectivamente, na apropriação e na operacionalização da política pública, a partir do estudo de vinte e cinco casos no agreste pernambucano. Analisam-se os projetos de financiamento e neles o papel dos animais nas economias familiares.
