Descripción
Sumario:Fazenda Soares rural settlement was recognized by National Institute of Colonization and Land Reform (I ncra) in 2005, on demand by a small producers’ association and project manager institution, Land Institute of Piaui (Interpi) and take part of a bigger area that was before destined to an agricultural project maintained by Piaui State Agriculture Bureau. On this study about principles regarding creation of rural settlements established on national and state plans of land reform and conduct of proceedings for constitution of rural settlements, document survey was done on Incra and Interpi, as well as field research, by direct observation, with field diary record, nondirective interviews with leaders of producers’ and settlers’ associations and oldest inhabitants of area, as well as questionnaire application with settled families. Research results indicate management failures of Interpi, which may compromise sustainability of settlement over the long term.
