More specifically, we would like to relate the latter analysis to the rural development policies implemented in Latin America since the 1950’s. |

The aim of this article is to carry out a historical analysis of the bonds between development programmes and food production in Latin America, as an introduction to a deeper analysis of the Buen Vivir notion proposed by Evo Morales’ Bolivian government. A lo largo de la última década varios países latinoamericanos, y principalmente Bolivia, han comenzado a experimentar profundas transiciones políticas que plantean la redefinición de los parámetros organizativos de su economía, su política y de su estado, delineando un cuestionamiento a la noción de desarrollo que caracterizó a las políticas de desarrollo rural de las grandes potencias durante el siglo XX.
