Este trabalho visa analisar as principais características do processo de urbanização na região que se estende do baixo curso do rio Açu (RN) ao baixo curso do rio Jaguaribe (CE). São analisados os elementos que influenciam na dinâmica que o agronegócio globalizado, embora não seja o único vetor, vem promovendo para a intensificação desta urbanização e para o crescimento econômico de cidades locais e médias. Interessa-nos compreender a partir disto os novos arranjos territoriais que se organizam no Nordeste brasileiro.
