The interaction between yield by area, cost of production and selling price defines whether the producer will end the production cycle with a positive or negative balance. The objective of this paper is to analyze the return of soybean production in Paraguay between 2002/03 and 2018/19, noting the variations over the years and their effects on producers. This study uses a qualitative and quantitative approach, such as literature review, statistical data analysis, questionnaire application with 77 soybean producers and 8 former producers and interviews with representatives of 45 companies in the sector. The results show that there is a strong variation in the net profit margin of soybeans according to the harvest year and the producer profile, whose most evident effect is the exclusion of some producers and the concentration in those with larger area and productive efficiency.Keywords: soybean market; farmers; profitability; Paraguay.WESZ JUNIOR, Valdemar João. Atualmente o cultivo da soja exige dos produtores um apurado conhecimento tecnológico, gerencial, financeiro e produtivo, sobretudo por ser um produto padronizado, com preço definido internacionalmente, pautada em um comércio global e controlado por empresas transnacionais. A interação entre rendimento por área, custo de produção e preço de venda define se o produtor finalizará o ciclo produtivo com saldo positivo ou negativo. O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar a margem líquida do cultivo da soja no Paraguai entre 2002/2003 e 2018/2019, percebendo as variações ao longo dos anos e seus efeitos sobre os produtores. Este estudo utiliza uma abordagem qualitativa e quantitativa, como revisão bibliográfica, análise de dados estatísticos, aplicação de questionário com 77 produtores de soja e 8 ex-produtores e realização de entrevistas com representantes de 45 empresas do setor. Os resultados mostram que há forte variação na margem líquida da soja conforme a safra e o perfil do produtor, cujo efeito mais evidente é a exclusão de alguns produtores e a concentração naqueles com maiores área e eficiência produtiva.Palavras-chave: mercado da soja; produtores rurais; rentabilidade; Paraguai.WESZ JUNIOR, Valdemar João.
