Sumario:This essay posits the question, how land dispossession and displacement caused by conflict over communal land is affecting women? The voices of Miskitu women, in the Wangki Twi Tasba Raya territory in the Nicaraguan Caribbean, reveal that the conflict is leading to a reorganization of collective property based on the male usurpation of communal land in which different actors (inside and outside) are involved. This reorganization of communal property affects women's rights to food security and their peace of mind; their autonomy is limited, and the reproduction of their social life is threatened. They are concerned about their present and future, but their voices are silenced in the conflict resulting from the dominant patriarchal system.
