The new formats and topics of Cuban comics are explored in this article through interviews with the creators and a comparative analysis between the 1990s context and the present. Some of the aspects taken into account are the economic crisis during the so-called “Special Period”, the massive migratory movement that happened then, and above all, the emergence of a transnational space in which Internet and social media play an important role. |

Este trabajo analiza el webcomic Athena, de Yussuán Remolina Amador “Just-Swamp” y Daniel Cruces-Pérez, como síntoma y resultado de la transnacionalización de la cultura cubana que empieza a producirse en los años 90 del siglo XX. Después de la caída del Muro de Berlín y la desaparición del bloque socialista de Europa del Este, las generaciones más jóvenes de historietistas cubanos se distancian de las limitaciones y los patrones político-ideológicos que definieron al cómic en Cuba después de la Revolución de 1959. Las nuevas temáticas y formatos de la historieta cubana se exploran a través de entrevistas con los creadores y de un análisis comparativo entre el contexto de los años 90 del pasado siglo y el presente.
