El autor recorre las condiciones del exterminio acaecido en la Argentina en los setenta y se detiene en problemáticas relacionadas con el horror, el consentimiento, la denuncia y la memoria. En esa línea, sostiene que los interlocutores de «Carta abierta de un escritor a la Junta Militar» (1977) no son los perpetradores del exterminio, sino que se trata de una interpelación al consentimiento determinado por el silencio ante la censura.
