Ivone was born in San Paulo, Brazil, in 1944. When she decided to become a nun, Ivone was studying philosophy, a branch of the social sciences in which she received her doctorate degree. In 1967, she joined the Christian congregation Las Hermanas de Nuestra Señora. In 1994 Ivone was punished by the Vatican for her position about abortion and she was sent back to Belgium to return to study. There, she completed her second PhD study in Religious Studies at the University of Louvain. As a doctoral thesis she presented her book "Out of the depths: women's experience of evil and salvation", published in 2002, which summarizes much of her work on women’s pain and ecofeminist understanding of History.In her writings she says that diversity is the constant in the human world on the illusion of fusionism or unit. This interview aims to deepen and problematize the question of dialogue on diversity, where Ivone links religious traditions and feminist thought. Su obra es reconocida en el mundo por ser disruptiva e innovadora dentro de la propia literatura feminista sin dejar de ser llana y profunda, dos características presentes en todos sus escritos. Ivone nació en San pablo, Brasil, en 1944. Cuando decidió ser monja, Ivone estudiaba filosofía, rama de las ciencias sociales en la cual se doctoró. En 1967, ingresó a la congregación cristiana Las Hermanas de Nuestra Señora y en 1994, fue castigada por el Vaticano por su posicionamiento sobre el aborto, que la envió a estudiar nuevamente a Bélgica. Allí realizó su segundo estudio de doctorado en Ciencias Religiosas en la Universidad de Lovaina la Nueva. Como tesis doctoral presentó su libro “El rostro oculto del mal. Una Teología desde la experiencia de las mujeres”, editado en Madrid en 2002, donde resume gran parte de su trabajo acerca el dolor de las mujeres y la comprensión ecofeminista de la historia.En sus escritos afirma que la diversidad es la constante en el mundo humano por sobre la ilusión de fusionismo o unidad. Esta entrevista pretende profundizar y problematizar la cuestión del diálogo de la diversidad en donde la teóloga tiende puentes humanitarios entre las tradiciones religiosas y el pensamiento feminista.
